How can I stay safer when meeting someone?

Plan your meeting, keep control of your choices, and know where to turn if you feel unsafe.

Meet only when you feel ready. You can decline, change your mind, or leave at any point.

For early meetings, choose a busy public place with staff nearby. Avoid isolated places and private homes. Don’t arrange pickup at your home.

Tell someone you trust whom you’re meeting, where you’re going, and when you expect to return. Arrange a check-in.

Organize your own transportation and a backup way home. Keep your phone charged, keep control of your belongings, and have enough money to leave independently. Pay your own ordinary expenses.

Keep food and drinks in sight. You can decline alcohol or other substances.

A meeting doesn’t obligate you to physical intimacy. Consent must remain freely given and ongoing.

If you feel unsafe, seek help from staff or someone you trust. For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Report concerning behavior to [email protected].

No precaution guarantees safety. Abuse is never your fault.
